Academic Success

Flixton Girls celebrated student success with an evening to recognise their academic achievements.

Mrs Hazeldine commented: ‘At the heart of our work at FGS is the deep understanding that academic success is dependent on many things including ambition, self-belief, self-confidence and a ‘can-do’ attitude.  Our partnership with the Outward Bound Trust and the Youth Sports Trust opens up a world of opportunity alongside phenomenal role models, enabling our girls to challenge themselves, to build resilience and character.'

Students at FGS have again achieved excellent examination results reflecting a solid reputation for delivering high quality education.

These results are not a ‘flash in the pan’, they have been consistently high at well over 70% 5 or more A* to C grades for several years. FGS has again delivered results in excess of the national average, building on previous records and Governors, staff, students and parents can all be very proud of our impressive record of success.

It was a pleasure to see our Class of 2017 school leavers return and be able to celebrate their academic successes. Many of the students were nominated for a variety of awards and cups with over thirty excellent winners.

The evening was hosted by Mrs Hazeldine with guest speaker Beth Nunn; ex-English Teacher and owner of visionary enterprise company called PIE- ‘Pursuing Individual Excellence’. Beth truly believes that every young person, regardless of their background deserves the same opportunities to flourish at school. The aim of her visionary enterprise company is to enable disadvantaged young people to achieve excellence in schools.

Beth commented: ‘It was such an honour to be asked to speak to a group of already remarkable young ladies. Hearing about some of their successes on the night, and seeing so many of them win awards was really a pleasure. The girls were so supportive of each other throughout the night, and it is clear that they truly care about each other and about their school.  You really have created a fantastic ethos at the school for developing strong and resilient young women; witnessing this was inspirational to me at the start of my business journey. Thank you everyone at FGS for being so kind and welcoming.’
