Over 50 Flixton Girls School students joined participated in a group dance performance on the pitch at Anfield during the Rugby League Four Nations Series Final.
As part of the Momentum Dance Project FGS students were asked to participate and work in partnership with the charitable organisation ‘Join the Momentum’. Our students performed in a larger group of over three hundred and fifty students, in front of a capacity crowd at Anfield stadium.
This was an exciting opportunity as FGS was one of only a handful of schools from across the UK to participate in the event.
Our girls attended workshops and rehearsal sessions to perfect the overall performance and only coming together with all of the participants on the morning of the event.
The Rugby League Four Nations Final was a prestigious televised event and the students perform at a professional standard.
Following the dance performance our students and accompanying staff were able to watch the rugby match and thoroughly enjoyed seeing the Haka performed live.
Mrs Ashurst said: ‘It was a great opportunity for the girls to perform in front of such a large crowd at a prestigious sporting venue. The girls were a credit to the school and demonstrated a strong commitment to the performance by working hard during rehearsals to create a dance for this once in a lifetime opportunity.’
