Christmas Carol Service

By far the musical highlight of the year was our Christmas Carol Service at St. Clement’s Church in Urmston. It is always an event the whole school looks forward to and, as ever, it was lovely to go back to a church that we know so well and celebrate a traditional Christmas in such a beautiful setting.
The congregation participated in nine carols and lessons with readings from Reverend Karen Marshall, Ishana Bailey year 8, Saskia Street year 7, Mia Foley Head Girl year 13, Mrs Trussell Deputy Head, Ella Fagan year 9, Katie Scotson year 10, Maegan Bradley year 11 and Mrs Hazeldine Headteacher. In addition both the senior and junior choirs sang a variety of pieces including ‘Starry Night’ and ‘In the Bleak Midwinter’ as well as leading the congregation in the opening verse of ‘Once in royal David’s City’.
We have received some lovely comments about the evening;
‘Carol service last night was emotional but beautiful.’ - year 11 parent
‘Outstanding celebration of the true meaning of Christmas - so proud!’ Mrs Hazeldine.
‘Congratulations all involved in the Christmas Carol service at St Clements. Brilliant, so many talented young ladies.’ - year 7 parent.
We also wish to thank all students, parents and staff for their generous contributions to the Key103 Mission Christmas Cash for Kids toy/gift appeal. Numerous staff vehicles were bulging with gifts collected at the service. All the toys and gifts from both the carol service and those brought into school will now be handed over to Key103 for distribution to the worthy recipients.
‘The schools expectations have been greatly exceeded with all of this year’s contributions,’ said Mrs Trussell.
