Christmas Concert

Posted at 1:37 pm on 22nd January, 2019

Flixton Girls School invited family, friends, students, staff and members of our local community to join us for our annual Christmas Concert, coordinated by our Performing Arts team.

The evening was a presentation of fabulous performances from very talented musicians, singers, drama students and dancers and included individual and group performances. Both the junior and senior choirs performed a variety of festive and contemporary pieces to the delight of the audience.

The event also previewed our forth coming school production of Mary Poppins Junior, with the cast performing ‘Step in Time’. This highlighted how much hard work and effort the production crew and cast have been dedicating to this event and we hope as many people as possible are able to join us. Tickets can be purchased via ParentPay or on the door for each night; Wednesday 30th or Thursday 31st January or Fri 1st February 2019 – doors open at 6.30pm - tickets cost £6 adult / £4 concessions.

Over one hundred and forty students performed works from their House Arts performances or pieces for their GCSE or extra curricula studies, making this event a culmination of months of practice and participation. All our girls have shown dedication and determination to their chosen discipline, helping to bring those in our school community and beyond together during the festive period.

Mrs Hazeldine, CEO of Healthy Learning Trust MAT and Headteacher and an ex-pupil of Flixton Girls School tweeted: ’Absolutely #tremendous #Christmas #show - so utterly proud of my #talented #teachers and performers #aspiration #empowerment #excellence. This is what #school is all about - #proud to be #headteacher @FlixtonGS!

Many staff and visitors commented: ‘An absolutely outstanding evening - well done to everyone involved. The school values were truly brought to life tonight.’

We would like to thank everyone involved with organising this event and our visitors for making this a successful festive experience for all. We look forward to seeing you all for Mary Poppins.
