Flixton Girls School Harvest collection culminated another giant harvest hamper of emergency food meals for Stretford Food Bank.
Many thanks to everyone who kindly provided a donation for this year’s harvest collection which was greatfully received by Stretford Food Bank. The volume of donations was overwhelming, with our total of emergency meals donated in 2017 at 1170, a total of 4531 over the last few years. Additionally donations of 150 meals where also sent to Salford Food Bank.

Jim Peloe Foodbank Manager wrote: ‘On behalf of the trustees, it is my pleasure to write and thank you, your colleagues, parents and pupils for another generous donation to The Foodbank. Our thanks to you all for the ongoing support that we have received and applaud you all for your generosity.
Sadly, our statistics show that in the last twelve months over five hundred children under the age of 16 have received help from our foodbank. The top three main reasons people attend the foodbank are, in order, Benefit Delays, Low-Income and Benefit Changes. Alarmingly low-income families are on the increase.’
Mr Coultas Director of Culture and Ethos concluded: “I am extremely proud of all the girls contributing year on year with our Harvest donations. Thank you to all the parents and families that supported their daughters with this event.”
