Giving to FGS
A message from the retired Headteacher
As both a former student and retired headteacher, at Flixton Girls - I am proud to have been a part of this school and its' development transformation, with the efforts and achievements of all the staff and students; over my thirteen years.
Over recent years FGS has gone from strength to strength and this is testament to the excellent support and partnership we have enjoyed with our parents and the local community.
Our examination results now place us in the top 10% of all schools, including grammar schools, in the North West and whilst we are very proud of our achievements, we are very keen to ensure that our girls enjoy a wide cultural and social education.
As a state funded academy, as with all public sector organisations, we are expected to achieve better and better results with ever decreasing funding.
I am therefore pleased to be able to offer all of our ex-students the opportunity to assist us in securing the very best for our girls through our Annual Giving Appeal.

How Regular Giving Will Benefit FGS
Our vision is to establish a regular giving scheme to enable us to increase our guaranteed annual income and enable our girls to have access to additional educational resources and opportunities.
We appreciate the economic circumstances affecting many families and individuals and are grateful for your support.
If you are a past student of FGS then you too can support us with a monthly or single donation to our annual giving appeal. We would be very happy to invite you into school to see how times have changed and how your donations can make a difference to today's students.
Our Priorities
We have undertaken a review of where extra funding would have the most impact on our girls and enhance our school vision of Aspiration, Empowerment and Excellence; young women who are full members of our society, achieving their potential in all areas of education and developing their character beyond any boundaries and barriers which may limit them.
The main four areas where we will invest are:
- Improving access to the arts and cultural experiences both in and out of school
- Improving the girls experience of Performing Arts through investment in new stage lighting, sound system and audio visual equipment
- Improving on the fitness and wellbeing of our girls through access to new sporting opportunities, new kit and equipment and a new school gym
- Improving the readiness of our girls to pass their examinations and become work and university ready through development of the Library & Independent Study spaces and new learning technologies.
