100% Track Record for Flixton Girls Sixth Form

Students are celebrating another year of 100% pass at A Level at Flixton Girls Sixth Form again beating the national figure of 97.6% and with every student achieving or exceeding their targets.  Amongst the top achieving students, Head Girl Emily Bates said: “I am so proud of everyone, we worked hard and got the results we deserved.” Emily herself gained A*A*B and will be studying Urban Planning at the University of Liverpool.  Deputy Head Girl Michelle Galliani said “I can’t believe I have achieved my dream of studying Biomedical Sciences, I am so happy!”  Michelle transferred to Flixton at the age of 12 speaking no English and went on to not only achieve excellent results at GCSE and A Level, but earlier in the year also became the  European Tae Kwondo champion.  Fatima Mazhar pictured below, gained A* A B and will read Economics at the University of Manchester.

Nyla McKenna, Head of Sixth Form said “I am really proud of all the girls but the main thing is that they all achieved or exceeded their targets. We take very special care of each and every girl at FGS 6^th Form, providing a unique level of support to ensure that every student may achieve her potential regardless of the tough issues faced by so many young people today”.

Headteacher and CEO of the Healthy Learning Trust Julie Hazeldine said “Our reason for setting up our Sixth Form at FGS (thanks to the great partnership we have with Trafford College) was to ensure that we are able to support each and every girl to fulfil her potential and achieve her life’s ambition by providing education from 11 to 18.  We do this through small teaching groups, our special relationships with the girls and their families, through excellent teaching and the wonderful staff who go above and beyond to support and build confidence and resilience amongst the students. Our community, parents and students are delighted with our excellent reputation now extending into A Level delivery and Sixth Form provision."

Amy Butcher who is going to study Law at MMU said "I still can't believe I got a Grade B in my English!  I am so grateful for all the support from our teachers!" Amy will be joined by Nicole Frankiewicz, also going to study Law at MMU, who began her career at Flixton with very little English but went on the gain a Grade A A Level in Polish alongside her CCC.

The Health and Social Care BTEC Diploma course has also been highly successful with 75% gaining the very top grades. Many of these girls, together with a large proportion of the A Level cohort are going on to Health and Medical related degree courses including Maths and Chemistry, Nursing, Biomedical Sciences, Psychology, Sociology with several pursuing business related courses including Law, Business and Economics.
