We have many talented students here at FGS but Serena Brown’s commitment and dedication to street dance certainly makes her a stand out student.

Serena began street dancing at the age of six and within a couple of years joined a very successful dance group called Superkidz. Participating with this group provided Serena with fantastic opportunities to travel all over the world; performing and competing in numerous national and international competitions. Some of their achievements are:

-              UDO’s North West, British, European and World Street dance champions (over many years)

-              Hip Hop International (HHI) UK champions

-              Representing the UK at the HHI World championships in Las Vegas 2014

-              Alesha Dixon Street Dance Stars semi-finalists (CBBC) 2013

-              Britain’s Got Talent 2013

-              Supporting acts for JLS 2012

-              Hotel Football, Manchester United pitch

-              Anthony Joshua Victory Tour 2017

For the past four years Serena has attended the Aim Sky High (ASH) performing arts school where she has continued her training in a variety of dance styles including ballet, contemporary and street dance; as well drama and singing.

Christina Taylor founder of ASH Dance Company commented: ‘Serena has rarely been out of north west competition since she commenced her street-dance journey.’

Serena Brown JA.jpgHer determination to succeed requires a great level of dedication; attending classes three evenings a week, all day Saturdays, plus extra rehearsals for competitions and planned performances. She continues her globetrotting adventures by visiting New York, Los Angeles, Germany and Jamaica to train in different styles of dance.

Serena said ‘I enjoy dancing in my team but have also had success as a solo and duo dancer. I currently have thirty eight individual trophies and lots of medals from various advanced dancer competitions.

Christina is my role model as one day I aim to own my own dance company but I also wish to pursue an international career and hopefully tour with someone like Beyoncé.’

We wish Serena every success with her performing and known as a dedicated student she will aspire to achieve all she can be.
