Abigail Chesworth 10HC has overcome injury in her pursuit of athletic success. After nearly a year out of sport due to a toe injury, she recently participated in the Greater Manchester School Games; on behalf of Trafford Athletics club and won a bronze medal in Javelin.
Abi had only previously attended three training sessions when her club asked her to be their representative at the School Games and she exceeded everyone’s expectations with her bronze medal throw of 27.77m. She is great competitor who also plays for Urmston Meadowside; her team reaching the semi-finals of her age group and is part of our very own year 10 winning Trafford Champions rounder’s team.
Miss Tedford Director of Teaching and Learning commented ‘Abi can turn her hand to any sport, representing the school in at least seven different sports; to an excellent standard. She is a real team player who has shown dedication to her team mates; attending competitions even when injured and cheering them whilst helping in a coaching capacity. We are all extremely proud of her success to date!
Mr and Mrs Chesworth said ‘She is an inspiration and her determination and dedication to sport shows that hard work really does pay off.’
Abi commented ‘I am very proud of myself; as the competition was just after I had an injury. It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to complete.’
