Children's Hospital Fundraising

At Flixton Girls School we take great pride in supporting our local community through a number of charity and fundraising events throughout the year. In July 2016, one of our students used personal experience of a family medical issue to spur her into assisting in raising funds to support cancer treatment for young people.

It was agreed that we, at FGS, would assist her in donating the proceeds of our fundraising event to the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital to support the great medical service offered to young people and their families.

The last day of school summer term saw the school day transformed into a rewards event for positive behaviours in school throughout the term. Within this day a number of fundraising events took place including splat the teacher and a cake/sweet stall. Students ran stalls and activities from form 7HJ Rosa Parks House, with the support of their form tutor Hannah Johnston.

Following this fundraising event we are delighted to present Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital with a cheque for £592.70.

Students commented ‘The reward and fundraising event was brilliant fun, made all the better for being able to splat a teacher and raise funds for a worth cause.’

Miss Johnston Humantities Teacher and form tutor said ‘I was very proud when students came to see me to ask about running a cake sale to raise funds for the Children's hospital. They organised the form to bring in a selection of cakes and made sure they all took it in turns to run the stall. They all raised a staggering amount of money which I hope will brighten the lives of the young people at the hospital.’
