Cross Country Challenges
Posted at 1:33 pm on 14th December, 2017
Three budding athletes from Flixton Girls School recently participated in a team cross country event at Longford Park Athletics track, Stretford.
Year 7 students Shona Wilkinson, Imogen Davenport and Isabelle Beaumont organised entry into the team cross country event under their own steam; coming out on top by winning the event.
All three students have been involved in athletics from an early age and really enjoy being in the outdoors. They train with Sale Harriers and Trafford Athletics Club at least two to three times and week. Plus they enjoy attending Ms Holt’s (Humanities teacher) after-school running club. Miss Holt said ‘the girls are absolute stars.’
As a school we have also been placed 5th in the recent Trafford Schools Cross country competition where entrants year 10 Ella Bowness secured 12th, year 8 Sophia Gilbert came 14th and year 8 Olivia Russell came 16th.
Sue Wilkinson, parent said ‘We are very proud of all the girls’ achievements.’
These are just some of the great athletes here at FGS showing dedication and determination to their chosen sport, whilst pulling together and supporting each other to be the best they can be. Very well done everyone.
