Our work with our local partner primary schools continued this term with German language taster sessions taking place at Urmston Primary School.

Two year 5 classes had the pleasure of being taught new skills in German language and about German culture by FGS Modern Foreign Language Teachers Miss Longden and Mr Lewis -  dressed in German traditional Dirndl dress and Lederhosen!

The taster sessions consisted of games, conversations and the creation of postcards all using the German language. The aim of the event was to further our links with our local feeder primary schools staff and students; whilst encouraging the children to take an interest in foreign cultures, languages and to learn something new.

All the students had a ‘Spaß and fantastisch’ (fun and fantastic) time completing all the games and creating their postcards.

Urmston Primary staff said ‘Thanks to Mr Lewis and Miss Longden for the German sessions, they were great fun and all the children were fully engaged with the activities.’

Mr Lewis and Miss Longden commented ‘We really enjoyed showing younger pupils a variety of different language skills; it was lovely to see how engaged and enthusiastic they were in gaining new skills. We hope to continue these links and activities over the coming years.’
