FGS Star Students Shine Again!

Our Year 11 & Year 13 have received their GCSE, BTEC and A Level results and have performed brilliantly across all subjects!

Whilst the government is not publishing performance data for any schools or colleges this year due to the varying impact of Covid19, our star students have had some stellar individual successes. Following the cancellation of exams, grades were awarded through a process of teacher assessed grades, against a national standard and approved and awarded by the exam boards. Overall, detailed in house analysis of results across the school show improvement on many GCSE and A Level outcomes from before the pandemic and these results see improved life chances and social mobility for all.

Our 100% pass rate at A Level and an improved number achieving the top grades has resulted in even more students moving on to their first choice destination, accessing a variety of degree courses and apprenticeships in various disciplines including Medicine, Nursing, Law, Education, Psychology, Business and Accountancy.

At GCSE, we have more students achieving top grades 9-7 in English and Maths, more SEN students achieving good grades in English and Maths and increased attainment in EBACC and creative subjects such as modern foreign languages, art and dance. This has enabled a record number to access A Level courses in facilitating subjects as well as a wide variety of vocational and creative courses.

Headteacher Mrs Trussell said “A huge thank you for the hard work and dedication shown by all students and staff members which has resulted in these well-deserved grades.  What they have achieved as a collective, through perseverance and sacrifice, is phenomenal. The dedication and care shown by parents and carers, too, in supporting their daughters to achieve their potential has been incredible; I couldn’t have hoped for more support in my first year as Headteacher.  It has been a challenging time but we have got through it together and it has been so lovely to spend time with the students this week, sharing in the joy of their successes and supporting them to make decisions regarding the next steps in their education. I am looking forward to sharing the next two years with all those who have chosen to complete their seven special years undertaking A Level studies in the “Flixton family” and can’t wait to hear from all our students going off to university and apprenticeships.  It has been an incredible year and their strength and resilience will serve them well in whatever they choose to do.”

Below are some images of our brilliant students on their results day.
