FGS Successful Open Evening
Posted at 1:32 pm on 26th September, 2017
Trafford’s leading school for girls of all abilities welcomed prospective parents and pupils, for another hugely successful Open Evening.
Over 325 girls and their families flocked to Flixton Girls School (FGS) to meet the Headteacher, students and staff ahead of the next academic year.
The school has gone from strength to strength over the last few years; having become an academy in 2011 and in 2017 lead school in the Healthy Learning Trust. FGS is leading in the borough as the ONLY all-girls school open to students of all abilities, interests and aptitudes - surpassing national standards year on year.
The Open Evening provided an access-all-areas approach with demonstrations in many area including sciences, music, nutrition, languages, computer science and sports; as well as talks from the heads of departments and informal meetings with pupils and staff.
Headteacher Julie Hazeldine commented that "Open Evenings help pupils and parents make an informed choice about their next steps and we hope this successful evening will have shown yet more families how their daughters can benefit through a successful education here at FGS."
One prospective parents said, “The evening was very professional yet friendly and welcoming. My daughter was engaged as soon as she entered the building and this continued throughout the classroom visits. The student helpers provided a valuable perspective for my daughter and their enthusiasm for the school and topics was evident.”
Concludes Julie: “We have had a great year, with record numbers of students applying for a place at our school. FGS is a school of first choice for parents who are confident that girls of all abilities succeed.”
The school is also holding Open Mornings in October – please call Mrs Buckley on 0161 912 2949 to book your place.
