Flixton Girls Council Leadership Elections

At Flixton Girls School we pride ourselves on providing all our students with opportunities to allow them to influence the world in which they live. For this reason, we offer a route for students to collaborate and influence change within the school, through our Flixton Girls Council (FGC).

FGC leadership team is a staff and study body, elected team of year 12 students who put themselves forward for a variety of Committee Officers role, including President and Vice President.

This year’s application process involved a rigorously detailed written application, from which shortlisting took place. The remaining candidates were then asked to outline their ‘vision’, for FGS over the forth coming year, in a short video presentation. Formal interviews were then hosted by a panel of staff, which included Mrs Trussell, Headteacher.

All our applicants made the decision of the panel very difficult, but after thorough review the panel announced the Flixton Girls Council team.

	Selkie Huk was elected President and will oversee all aspects of the student council, reporting to Headteacher and ensuring all students have their voices heard.
	Hannah Derradji as Vice President for Equality & Diversity and Selkie’s right hand person assisting in the overall running, planning of activities.
	Ellie Cox, as Vice President for Health & Wellbeing and will also act as Seklie’s right hand person assisting in the overall running, planning of activities.
	Zunairah Mazhar, Equality & Diversity Ambassador, in conjunction with colleagues is responsible for Culture ambassadors, leadership of HWB culture day and assemblies.
	Illhan Hassan, Equality & Diversity Ambassador, in conjunction with colleagues is responsible for Culture ambassadors, leadership of HWB culture day and assemblies.
	Laiba Khan, Equality & Diversity Ambassador, in conjunction with colleagues is responsible for Culture ambassadors, leadership of HWB culture day and assemblies.
	Tyler Messado, Equality & Diversity Ambassador, in conjunction with colleagues is responsible for Culture ambassadors, leadership of HWB culture day and assemblies.
	Maryam Ishaque, Equality & Diversity Ambassador, in conjunction with colleagues is responsible for Culture ambassadors, leadership of HWB culture day and assemblies.
	Isabelle Frain, Sport and Participation Ambassador – her role, in conjunction with colleagues is to increase whole school sport and participation experiences, including lunchtime activities and promotion of wellbeing.
	Gabby Murray, Sport and Participation Ambassador – her role, in conjunction with colleagues is to increase whole school sport and participation experiences, including lunchtime activities and promotion of wellbeing.
	Iqra Ahmed, Learning Environment Ambassador – oversee the improvement of learning environments around the school site and meet regularly with Ecology reps.
	Katelin Whyne, Transition Ambassador – deliver transition activities for year 6 into year 7 students and step up to Sixth Form.

Mrs Trussell commented: ‘Thanks so much to everyone who took part with the FGC elections. Following a rigorous and impressive selection process, I am thrilled to announce the finalised FGC and JLT roles for 2022-23. Congratulations to all students selected you are fantastic role models and are really passionate about driving forward change and growing the school!’
