Flixton Girls Leading the Way!

Flixton Girls School Junior Leadership Team pictured here are celebrating another year of record breaking and record setting results.  With more than ever gaining 9 to 4 grades across subjects and a massive increase in the number of top grades across all the sciences, Headteacher Julie Hazeldine said: “what an honour and delight it was yesterday to share these precious moments seeing our girls crying with delight and shrieking with excitement as they opened their amazing results! As an all-ability, inclusive school I am especially proud of the girls who have achieved very highly in the face of significant personal challenges.”

Healthy Learning Trust (HLT) Trustee and CEO of the Youth Sport Trust Ali Oliver said: “Sincere congratulations to the whole Flixton community - as the Maori’s say, ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ and Flixton has been that ‘village’ over the last 5 years for girls you have helped raise.”

Overall number of pass grades is up from 72% to 75% a new record for the school.  Top grades for Catalina David, Palvasha Khan and straight 9 to 7 grades and  Heaba Mansour gaining A Level Arabic Grade A in addition to 5 GCSE grade 9s including 3 grade 9s in her triple sciences alongside 25 other girls who also gained straight 9-7 top grades science and separate physics, chemistry and biology, another school record leading to record numbers already signed up to the FGS Sixth Form also celebrating 100% passes for the second year running.

Jade Whitworth is in the top group of girls who made exceptional progress during their time at Flixton, also including Rachael Jones, Ammal Shahid (House Captain), Abbie Craig and Nikita Lomas with all of the girls gaining several top grades.

Jade’s mum said “She has absolutely loved every minute at Flixton and can’t wait to start the 6^th form.”

Special Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) Anna Hulse is really proud of her girls saying: “Emma Bristow has brought tears to our eyes – I am so proud of her, such an amazing achievement especially in overcoming the challenges of everyday life living with Cerebral Palsy”. Emma has gained 7 GCSE passes and is going on to study Level 3 Photography and Trafford College.

Headteacher Julie Hazeldine said: “Emma has had a huge impact on the school, setting an example to us all every single day, we will really miss her.”

Eleanor Mastin couldn’t stop smiling when she opened her results, her mum said “I am so grateful for the amazing support she has had from the staff at FGS who have really helped her through a very challenging year.” Eleanor has just enrolled for Sixth Form at FGS on the back of her straight Grades 9 to 6 including 6 at grades 9 to 7.

Headteacher and CEO of the Healthy Learning Trust said “Not only I am thrilled with the girls achievements but also that in our first year with the Multi Academy Trust we have achieved our best results ever. I am really excited about the future as we work with other schools to help us achieve highly for even more students in the region.”
