I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of HERE!

Following the latest virtual meeting of the Friends of Flixton, members and staff got their heads together to find alternate ways of fundraising for the benefit of the students and the school. Following the success of the Christmas Hampers campaign, the group felt a more ambitious challenge was required and luckily Headteacher Mrs Trussell felt the same. And “I’m a Headteacher, Get Me Out of Here” was born!

The challenge was laid down by Mrs Trussell in her weekly update videos asking for a £1 donation per vote per trial, consisting of; Walk 8.2 miles walk School, Cook and Clean at FGS or Fast Food Hell. Votes & donations were cast through ParentPay and we have been overwhelmed by your support and generosity. All your donations / votes have been counted, verified and the total raised is £356.50.

It was initially quite a close fought race but the eventual winning challenge was Cook and Clean at FGS which raised £177, followed by Walk 8.2 miles to School raising £102.50 and Fast Food Hell at £77.00.

We wished to thank everyone who has supported our Friends of Flixton fundraiser, which has really brought together our whole school community. Mrs Trussell completed her challenge task donning her marigolds and apron to assist the school caretaking, cleaning and catering teams; whilst also ensuring heading up the arrangements for the schools phased reopening to all students!

As she mentioned in her weekly video updates, the cooking and cleaning was actually her preferred option and she has been secretly looking forward to this challenge.

Following completion of her challenge activities Mrs Trussell tweeted, ‘Really did have a great time and experienced first hand the hard work and creativity that goes on in the @FlixtonGS dining room - we really are so lucky to have such a great team - my muscles are really aching after spending just a few hours in the kitchen. Total respect!’

@ArtisanFGS tweeted,’Mrs Trussell getting stuck into different tasks today in Artisan. Very happy with her soup and buns.’

Our FoF volunteers also have plans for an Easter Raffle, launching again via ParentPay from the 1st to the 18th March. So to be with a chance of winning an Easter hamper of goodies, in time for the Easter break please ensure you buy your raffle tickets in good time!

All funds raised go into the Friends of Flixton fundraising pot, for school activities and stock for student use. We look forward to seeing the results towards the end of February!
