The National Citizenship Service (NCS) recently come into school to talk with 6th Form students about signing up for their summer challenge.
NCS is an experience not to be missed. It is aimed at 15-17 year olds, providing a chance to embark on exhilarating challenges, to make their mark and build skills for both work and life. More than 274,000 young people have already said YES to NCS.
The challenges take place within your local community, outside of term time; so no matter what your commitments are or what your summer holiday plans might be, just register and we’ll get you on the next available NCS spot.
Let’s face it – life’s too short to be stuck indoors. So why not kick-start your future with a summer you’ll never forget. Thanks to Government backing, the most you’ll ever pay for this unbeatable experience is £50, but this cost could be less or even free depending on your circumstances and local NCS provider.
The course involves a range of activities such as raft building, canoeing, and abseiling as well as including a series of talks from individuals to inspire and engage young people to go into higher education or future employment. UCAS recommends students include NCS in their personal statement; as it shows a commitment to learning employment skills, how to budget and live for yourself; whilst also getting your voice heard.
Our current year 13 students who experienced NCS during summer 2017 commented:
‘The programme was extremely helpful in teaching me how to budget for university and gave me a taster of what university life was like.’ Freya Ashcroft.
Michelle Galliani Deputy Head Girl said: ‘It was a life changing moment that helped to build my confidence and pursue my dreams.’
