Open Doors!

Flixton Girls School (FGS), students and staff proudly welcomed our prospective Flixton family members to our 2022 Open Evening event.

Prospective families were able to meet staff and join our small group guided tours; enabling them to meet subject leaders, viewing students' displayed work, participating with interactive demonstrations and hearing from Mrs Trussell, our Headteacher. Following feedback from those who attended our "access all areas" event, it has been deemed a resounding success.

Attendees' feedback confirmed that our new-look, face to face event was well received within our community - keeping visitors, staff and students safe, whilst enabling as many visitors as possible to access our facilities. 

Parental feedback included, “Thoroughly enjoyed the evening, well done.” “Just wanted to say a huge thank you to the staff and students involved in the Open Evening, it was excellent. My daughter really enjoyed the whole event and her own words were ‘I’m definitely coming here’.” 

Mrs Trussell, opened the event by saying, “Having been a part of FGS for almost two decades, I am absolutely thrilled and honoured to be the Headteacher of our “Flixton family” in this historic year - our 90th year as a school.  I am so proud to have helped transform this school into what it is today and one that truly sits at the heart of the community. Our event aims to deliver a flavour of the school and provide positive impressions of our broad curriculum offer,  inspirational teaching and additional opportunities available to our students.

My experience and knowledge of our Flixton family places me in a unique position; I really do understand the local community, the challenges faced and what needs to be done. By working together we can enable local girls from Urmston, Davyhulme, Flixton, Lostock and Stretford to be the very best version of themselves and exit high school education as well-rounded, positive individuals ready to take their place in society as the "change makers" we all need the next generation to be.

We work with our young people to develop their social and moral health, we encourage them to do the right thing and to play their part in changing things from within the school, which filter out into the local and the global community.

If you choose FGS I know that, together with your support, your daughter is going to have the most amazing journey with us over the next seven years and it starts with a transition process that is second to none. There really is no limit to her potential here at FGS.

We have a superb team of teaching staff delivering inspirational learning experiences, as well as expert operational and support staff who provide amazing care and encouragement. I would recommend that you get your applications in promptly to give you the best chance possible of securing a place!’
