Rainbow Cake Sale
Posted at 10:52 am on 1st November, 2017
Members of the Flixton Girls School (FGS) Equalitities Club recently created some fabulous “rainbow” bakes - all in aid of charity.
The rainbow bake sale took place during break and lunch with a selection of homemade cakes, cupcakes and biscuits being sold to raise funds for The Proud Trust; a youth LGBTQ charity based in Manchester.
A fantastic pot of gold at the end of the rainbow - the bake sale raised a total of £133.89 for this worthy cause, plus also allowing the Equalitities club to purchase member lanyards and badges for the group.
The Equalitities club runs across all years groups with over 30 students meeting at lunchtimes. The group chose The Proud Trust as their charitable cause as they are a local charity which supports young people with homo/bi/transphobic bullying, counselling, workshops and advice.
A students who participates in the Equalities club said ‘I joined this group to support everyone, no matter who or what they like. At the end of the day we are all just people. Supporting each other and learning to live together peacefully makes for a better place for everyone.’
Fundraising will continue for The Proud Trust throughout this academic year.
