Retirement Reunion

Flixton Girls School has opened the registration for our next annual ‘Alumni Reunion’ event for Saturday 21^st March 2020, 10-12noon through Eventbrite click HERE

We want to make our 87^th year extra special event for everyone, but in particular our retiring Headteacher Mrs Julie Hazeldine. An ex-student and alumni member herself, Julie (nee Prole) announced her retirement at the beginning of the year tweeting:

'It’s been an emotional week announcing my retirement...@FlixtonGS @FGS6thForm @hltMAT was always going to be a hard place to leave...but it’s a lovely school for the next Headteacher- could it be you?!

                         

Julie has attended all our previous alumni events, meeting up with her 1978 cohort of classmates from 5T.

Following her announcement to retire ex-students from Julie’s 2007 to 2019 headship of FGS have been in touch including this quote from Soraya Holloway,

‘Firstly from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU! For all that, you have not only done for me, but every girl who has attended FGS! From the amazing opportunities to the brilliant once in a lifetime trips! Secondly, I wish you all the absolute best for the future. Happy retirement!

Please help us spread the word to all alumnus but particularly those who attended during Julie’s headship – 2007 to 2019 leavers. Share with all family members, friends, colleagues and via social media to ensure as many of our ex-students and ex-staff; are informed about this year’s event.

2020 sees FGS celebrating our 87^th year of opening and all ex-students are welcome to attend; we ask for notice of registration for those wishing to attendance for the 21^st March event, purely to gauge numbers for refreshments. This is a totally FREE event and one to which all attendees can bring along friends and family members.

Former students and staff have access to the whole school site, allowing them to take a walk down memory lane and retrace their FGS footsteps. Reconnect with classmates, reminisce about old times, revisit classrooms, flick through old school photographs, magazines, and yearbooks and enjoy a brew on us!

Gill Newhill: ‘It was great to meet up with old friends at the FGS this afternoon. Not seen any school friends since June 1986, nearly 33 years ago.’

Stella Christian said ‘It was a fab and emotional event, walking through my old school, meeting old friends and sharing stories.’

Susan Ashworth tweeted: ‘Fantastic to see everybody again x.’
