Sixth Form Open Evening

Flixton Girls School Sixth Form (FGS), Trafford’s newest all girls Sixth Form, opened their doors this week for students and their parents to review pathways and study programmes for the academic year 2018/19.

Based within the FGS site, in a newly decorated and fully refurbished independent building, its students are taught by A’ level specialists from FGS.

The Sixth Form is small enough to provide for individual need and with high aspirations for all our students we are uniquely placed to support our girls through the academic challenge that comes with ambitious target setting.

Offering an academic A level programme, the Sixth Form provides an induction programme, internships, volunteering and the Extended Project Qualifications (EPQ) with the aims of both educating and enriching its pupils. We work in partnership with leading universities including Manchester, Oxford and Cambridge to give the girls the best preparation for the UCAS application process. Girls can also participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.

FGS Head Teacher Julie Hazeldine recently said; “All our Sixth Formers have the opportunity to improve their research and independent study skills while playing a central role in the wider whole school life: acting as leaders, gaining additional qualifications, mentoring younger students and working alongside the teaching staff in School. It is this attitude, commitment and ambition which make the Sixth Form at FGS, a special place to continue your journey to success.”

Applications for our Sixth Form academic year 2018/19 are now open, for an application form and more information contact the school on 0161 912 2949 or visit our website
