Students Academic Success

Flixton Girls celebrated student success with an evening to recognise their academic achievements.

Mrs Hazeldine commented: ‘At the heart of our work at FGS is the deep understanding that academic success is dependent on many things including ambition, self-belief, self-confidence and a ‘can-do’ attitude.  Our partnership with the Outward Bound Trust and the Youth Sports Trust opens up a world of opportunity alongside phenomenal role models, enabling our girls to challenge themselves, to build resilience and character.'

We are especially proud of our academic success in external examinations recognised nationally by the SSAT and putting us 5th best in the country for similar schools in 2015/16.  Many girls again this summer gained excellent results at 73% A+ to C compared to 67% nationally, and a higher percentage than ever gaining 8 or more A*/A grades.

It was a pleasure to see our Class of 2016 school leavers return and be able to celebrate their academic successes. Many of the students were nominated for a variety of awards/cups with over twenty five excellent winners.

The evening was hosted by Mrs Hazeldine with guest speaker Mrs Littlemore, BA Hons PGCE. Mrs Littlemore taught English until recently at FGS and is now perusing a literary career as a published author. She commented: ‘I was so happy to speak at FGS. It was wonderful to see so many lovely young women achieving their best. I hope you are all inspired to continue with your dreams.’

With so many great results it is difficult to pick out just a few but special recognition needs to go to retiring Head Girl Sandeep Kaur who won the Head teacher’s Award for Service to the School. Plus Emily Bates, current Sixth Form Year 12 student who won two prizes; The Curie Cup for Science and The Fathers Cup for Olympic Legacy and who is continuing her scientific studies.
