Wellbeing Wednesday January Event

Posted at 2:29 pm on 8th February, 2018

Flixton Girls School extended its programme of health and wellbeing for this academic year with a variety of evening activities, the later of which was ‘Cooking and Nutrition’ run by our very own Ms Vekstein, Create Faculty Assistant.

The session saw a group of students and their parents learning new cooking techniques and recipes to allow them to stay a little healthier during 2018. Everyone was able to watch the demonstrations and take part in the making of smoothies, salad dressings and vegan “Snickers” ice-cream. Recipes were also provided to take home and continue making the products of their choice throughout the coming months.

Winifred Woodcock Grandparent said ‘Mrs Vekstein, Thank you for the very enjoyable cooking class I attended with my granddaughter.  I learnt things and tasted food I hadn’t before. It was a very enjoyable evening.  Please thank Mrs Statham for her part in the evening.’

We thank Ms Woodcock for her feedback and donation to school funds; we hope you and other family members can join us for our next ‘Relaxation & Stress Relief’ event on the 14th March 6.30 to 8pm.

Ms Vekstein commented: ‘Everyone was really positive about the food; really liking the quinoa dish I demonstrated and they were able to taste it.  The vegan “Snickers” ice-cream went down a storm with everyone agreeing they would make it again.’
